Toei Shinyaku Co., Ltd. has obtained a Japanese patent based on human clinical research on outdoor-cultivated Agaricus KA21 in the field of men’s health.
The research was conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Science at Shigakkan University and evaluated Agaricus KA21 in middle-aged and older men using men’s health and quality-of-life related measures.
Based on the research findings, the Japan Patent Office registered a patent covering a composition related to male menopausal symptoms, including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, depressive mood, and reduced muscle strength.
The patent represents an intellectual-property outcome of Toei Shinyaku’s continuing human clinical research program on Agaricus KA21. The scope of the patent should be distinguished from general medical claims about the treatment of late-onset hypogonadism or other diseases.
Toei Shinyaku has conducted research on outdoor-cultivated Agaricus KA21 for more than 30 years and continues to build scientific evidence through collaborative research with universities and medical institutions.
Agaricus KA21 is derived from outdoor-cultivated Agaricus brasiliensis and is commercially known as King Agaricus KA21.
